Study playlist FAQ
What is the best study playlist?
It depends on the task. For reading and long problem sets, try Deep Focus or Rainy Library. For late revision, Late-Night Study. If you’re nervous before an exam, Exam Calm is the gentlest. If you study in timed blocks, pick a length playlist (25 minutes, 50 minutes, 1, 2 or 3 hours) or build one to the exact minute.
Why lofi for studying?
Lofi is instrumental, steady and soft at the edges. With no lyrics to follow and few surprises, it fills the silence without pulling your attention away from the page. Every track here is instrumental.
How do the length playlists work?
Each one is fitted so the tracks add up to the target length, usually within a minute. Press play when you start, and when the music stops your block is done. The player shows how much of the session is left and the clock time it ends.
Can I make my own study playlist?
Yes. In “Build one”, pick one or more moods and a length from 15 minutes to 4 hours. You get a fresh playlist that fills that time, which you can play here or save as an M3U8 file for VLC or any media player.
Can I use this music in my study-with-me videos and livestreams?
Yes, with credit. The music is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Use it on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch and all social media, in videos and livestreams, and add the credit “Music by Purrple Cat”.
Will my videos get Content ID claims?
No. The music is not registered with Content ID, so your study-with-me videos, streams and VODs won’t be claimed for it.
Can I upload the music to Spotify or Apple Music?
No. The music must never be uploaded to music streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer or Tidal. That includes remixes, samples and covers of it.
Can I download the tracks?
Yes, as MP3. Every track has an MP3 button, and every playlist has an M3U8 file you can open in VLC or any media player for offline listening.
Who makes the music?
Purrple Cat, an independent lofi project with 500+ songs. Every track on this site is an original instrumental.
